The Scottish side began their European journey in perfect fashion with a valuable four-try away victory against Sale.

Taking advantage of the wind at their backs, the hosts began the brighter and raced to a fourteen-point advantage within 20 minutes. Tries from Ernst van Rhyn and teenage debutant Ollie Davies put them in command.

But, Glasgow responded admirably with two tries prior to half-time. Forward Hiddleston and back-rower Rory Darge both crossed to reduce the deficit.

Further second-half scores from captain Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall pushed Glasgow's lead to 26-14. Marius Louw's try for the hosts promised a nervous finale, but the visitors held firm to claim a major opening win.

Glasgow Seize Initiative Following Half-Time

Play started with a quick try as Sale captain Van Rhyn drove over from short distance after just two minutes. An early knock to midfielder Ma'asi-White introduced 19-year-old Davies into the action for his European debut.

Davies made an instant contribution. Switching to fly-half, he took a smart support line to take an offload and score, making Sale's advantage.

Facing difficult conditions, the Warriors used their set-piece to get back into the contest. A powerful line-out drive was touched down by front-rower Hiddleston. Just before the half, Darge barged over, with Adam Hastings' conversion making it a narrow game at half-time.

The Scottish club took the advantage for the first time soon after the second half. A misjudged box-kick was gathered by No. 8 Dempsey, who fed captain Steyn to break a challenge and sprint to the line.

Now in the driving seat, Glasgow secured the fourth try when McDowall powered past a tackle to score his century for the team. This try capped a run of twenty-six consecutive points.

The hosts gave themselves a late hope when Louw showed neat footwork to score. The conversion made it a five-point game with time left.

A final opportunity arose for them from a line-out in the 22, but they lost the possession, confirming Glasgow's victory.

Sale must bounce back ahead of a trip to face Clermont Auvergne next Saturday. Meanwhile, Glasgow Warriors will welcome European giants Toulouse to their home ground.
