Person That Grabbed Ariana Grande during Movie Premiere Banned from Singapore

A man from Australia who vaulted past a barrier and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.

The individual, twenty-six, was given a sentence to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the country's border control informed Singaporean press.

He forced his way past photographers and charged at the performer and artist, who was attending the regional launch for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

He has a background of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.

The incident provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of triggering past trauma for the singer.

The singer has spoken of suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her performance in Manchester in May 2017 took the lives of over twenty people and injured hundreds.

During Wen's trial, the authorities learned he had attempted to intrude on the film's premiere multiple times, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a second attempt to breach security. Event security stopped him and restrained him.

Wen later posted videos thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."

Authorities detained him the following day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Presiding Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by media reports as stating that the man sought attention, adding that he was incorrect to assume he would not experience repercussions.

The actress has not addressed the incident.

The co-star spoke about the event to NBC, stating that she "just wanted to verify my co-star was secure."

"I believe he didn't mean us harm, but you never know with these incidents, and I sought to make sure that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
